Quotes Process

The ExcelTools’ real-time Quotes interface gives you access to all of your energy publication data as it happens. When you initiate a Quote query, Excel displays a tabular representation of the real-time streaming data for the contracts you've identified. Data is displayed in each column based on the field choices you make when you set up the query.

The Process of Performing a Quotes Query

The process of adding Quotes to your Excel spreadsheet is simple: specify the desired symbols and select the data fields you want. Once the query is set, new data is automatically updated into your spreadsheet.

The general process is listed here:

  1. Initiate a Quotes query by clicking the Quotes icon.
  2. Select symbols to display.
    1. If you know the specific symbols, enter them directly.
    2. If you don't know the specific symbols, use the Search or Symbol Tree to find them.
  3. Identify the columns/data fields you wish to display using the field selector.
  4. Optionally choose additional display settings (rows or columns, data header format).
  5. Save the query to insert the quoteboard in your spreadsheet.
  6. Data is automatically pulled into the spreadsheet as new information is received from the exchanges.

NOTE: Unit and currency conversions are only available in the Historical query.
