Why Choose MarketView?
Comprehensive Data Integration and Control
- Easily share energy market data between MarketView and other desktop applications, such as Excel, for customized analysis and reporting. Open technology allows customers to eliminate or reduce use of costly proprietary hardware for market data; use of Microsoft technology allows easy integration into most existing environments.
- Data can easily be imported to and exported from the GlobalView data servers via adaptors and/or custom development to middle and back-office systems increasing operational efficiencies.
- MarketView provides consistent, low cost access to specific price information required by senior management, support, operations, refinery, planning, risk management, settlement and other front/mid/back office staff.
- The MarketView permissions system makes it easy to ensure data licensing conditions are being followed and ensure security for proprietary data.
- Allows customers to manage proprietary information flow to and from external constituencies with partitioning, permissioning, security and reliability for e-confirms, bid and offer trade data, execution back to exchanges, etc.
Technology Benefits of MarketView Java Component Strategy
- The latest Java technology provides a small client-side application footprint with no client installation beyond a Java runtime environment.
- The MarketView components can be organized into a purely web-based application running inside a browser.
- The application can also be deployed as a desktop program that runs outside the web-browser.
- Individual components can easily be integrated into existing corporate internet/intranet based applications.
- The MarketView client technology is platform and browser independent.
- The entire MarketView solution infrastructure can be managed on-site by the client, off-site by GlobalView Product Support in an ASP model or in some hybrid configuration at the customer's discretion.
MarketView enables customers to:
- Establish one powerful and consistent framework in which to present and analyze consolidated information from disparate sources; including proprietary data.
- Eliminate or substantially reduce separate data, terminal, software and communication fees from multiple vendors.
- Establish one central market information database from which can supply data to internal computer networks and to other software applications.
- Utilize the Internet for efficient, two-way streaming of real-time price and news data.
- Create a zero latency enterprise information-sharing environment.
- Provide a low cost entry for users needing high function display tools for access to many data sources.
- View over internet, network or wireless devices.
MarketView can decrease the total cost of ownership for market data integration systems in many ways.
- Lower software system costs - MarketView is priced on a modular basis so that each user pays only for the corporate and user functions needed.
- Lower data costs - The MarketView middle tier supports user-by-user data permission entitlements so that each user pays only for the data sources to which they subscribe. Unbundled pricing can provide significant cost advantages to customers from their use of third-party data providers. The MarketView middle tier also allows customers to capture significant savings from the automation and zero latency transfer of internally-generated information across the enterprise, increasing operational efficiency while reducing the risks of costly errors inherent in a manual environment.
- Lower training costs - The MarketView client application can run entirely within a web-browser and its simple point and click interface requires little training to master.
- Lower maintenance costs - MarketView utilizes thin client architecture providing easy deployment with no desktop installation required. Upgrades are automatically handled from the web server. Customers also have the option to outsource the server infrastructure management to GlobalView.
- Lower support costs - MarketView can run entirely within a web-browser or as an independent Java application using automated installation causing fewer problems that may disrupt user productivity. The majority of all support and training issues can be handled via the web.
- Lower administration costs - GlobalView will provide a web-based interface to its customers allowing self-administration for data content and software features within the new MarketView application.
MarketView Architecture
The MarketView application utilizes a multi-tier architecture that extends the GlobalView data server functions to meet the demands of streaming data over the enterprise network and over the Internet to a web-browser or any Java-based client application. The web/application server acts as the host for the client application and provides preference and state management to the client application. In addition, it can be utilized to host HTML/DHTML components that can be either static or dynamically generated utilizing ASP or JSP technology.
Additional value may be gained in this model by channeling proprietary data sources through the GlobalView data server. These results are then displayed in the MarketView client or a client designed and built by GlobalView for customized display requirements, such as e-confirmation or trade execution displays. Customers can easily import their proprietary price or text information into the MarketView system and have it distributed to the MarketView client application and/or other applications in the same manner as data provided by other data suppliers. The complete flexibility and open architecture provides unlimited opportunity to create tightly integrated information display solutions with other functions within a web site.
