MarketView components are organized in a desktop application framework that allows users and organizations to personalize and customize the display and interaction with the data. The framework provides portal functionality by acting as the starting point for access to market information and allows other modules, such as customer-specific applications for branded sites, to be implemented within it. Customers can elect to utilize the MarketView framework, adding their own applets within the framework, or alternatively, can choose another framework and add MarketView components into that structure.

MarketView's unique structure allows for flexible windowing which provides the ultimate web browser layout capability. The user can create, resize and arrange window panels within the framework. The open and flexible nature of the MarketView desktop gives the user complete control in arranging their individual data display. Each display component can be enabled or disabled on a user-by-user basis and is priced in modular fashion. All the display components support GlobalView's robust data security layer. Each partitioned data set can be enabled or disabled on a per user basis in order to conform to data supplier requirements.

MarketView supports both streaming and snapshot data connectivity. Streaming data, price changes and breaking news stories are dynamically updated in the user's workspace. Streaming data is provided via connection to the middle tier and data servers over LAN, WAN or Internet. The client application will receive every update to price field changes the instant that the change occurs at the data server. Given the higher cost and hardware overhead to support streaming data, this function is permission-controlled on a user-by-user basis along with data sources and advanced features.
